Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) means to increase a website’s or web page traffic counts, by placing very high in the results of searches for the keywords in the search query. It is a form of internet marketing. The logic is that the earlier a site appears in the search results list, the more visitors it will obtain from the search engine. SEO can be simple for some websites, while others may require intense website code, navigation and contents. Apart from depending on the natural ways of SEO using specific keywords, there are dedicated teams functioning, known as search engine optimizers who can help you in achieving the optimization.

Initially, you must make a good list of all the keywords. Keywords are very elemental in Search Engine Optimization. Mix up the sequence of the keywords in all probable combinations.  Do note that excessive use of keywords in your site causes a search engine to ignore or decrease the value of that keyword within your page; hence be wise in selecting your keywords. For best results avoid using keywords that do not relate to the content of the site. Avoid using different pages that connect to the same URL.  Remove keywords which are not likely to be used in a search.  In some cases the keywords are highly competitive and most of them being held by different domains resulting duplicated pages in a search engine query.

Tuning a keyword for search engine can be done through trial and error method.  By changing the keywords and their combinations until your page rank visibly well on several search engines. Submit your URLs to every major search engines. Considering the rapid growth of the web, it is very difficult that your web site maintains the same higher position in a search engine query. You need to constantly monitor your ranking and do appropriate changes for your web site to constantly maintain the position in the search engine query.

Search engine optimisation is a booming field, and it is easy to see why. As an online business, the bulk of your customers will come from search engines. Therefore, you want your business website to be optimised for search engine traffic.

While most people would suggest that you hire a professional for a task that seems to be rather difficult at first glance, in actuality there is nothing to search engine optimisation, or SEO, that you cannot do yourself. It is much easier than designing your own website.

Far easier than finding resources to send traffic your way. And certainly easier than getting each and every person who visits your site to buy one of your products.

Designing Your Business Website, Part 2

Although designing your own website is not the most difficult thing you will ever do, it is fairly time consuming. However, when you have finished with the design, you will have a great feeling about yourself – that you actually created something yourself, something that you can be proud of, something that will hopefully make you a lot of money in the long term.

Since you already have your template sketched out and your colour palette chosen, the only prep work that you need before you get started on your site’s design is to download the necessary tools that will help you along the way.

You will need an image editor for creating the pictures for the site, a “What You See Is What You Get” site editor to design the website, and a text editor to modify the code as you see fit. If you’ve got the money, purchase a copy of the Adobe CS3 Web Design package which contains Photoshop, Dreamweaver and a bunch of other useful program.
